It is important in what direction Damera will

Mariam Da arit (Mariam Fatima). The legend tells that
ages ago the Holy Mary with her child Jesus appeared at
this tree. The trunk is hollow and so big that the inner
space has a 10 feet diameter. This has made it possible
to furnish a small chapel in the tree. Every year in June
a pilgrimage is organized to the chapel.
Another story
tells that during WW2, in 1941 there were severe clashes
between the Italians and the Brittish. A bomb that was
dropped during these fights landed inside this tree. As
by a miracle the bomb did not explode. The bomb was
carefully removed. Traces can still be found on the
trunk.
