Asmara - November 20 2009
For today I planned a very attractive
walk to Adi Nefas (village of the wind) ten kilometers out of Asmara..
From the city center I pass
police station #1and Edaga Arbi to start the walk in Akria (which is also
the terminus of bus number 8).
The road to Adi Nefas starts
on the right of a red hill and from there it is just "straight"
ahead on a dirt road, passing red colored hills, stone factories, water
reservoirs and agricultural sites.
Just before the Adi Nefas
water reservoir I turn to the left to walk the dam.
Farmers thresh their harvest,
with the help of their animals.
For an hour I walk through the
village, with its typical houses, called hidmo's breathing a medieval
spirit. The walk ends at a modern Kindergarten, a public water supply and
the bus stop.
The very old 24 seater takes
me, and 40-50 other passengers back to Asmara for three Nakfa only.
Lunch is in City Center Snack
Bar (opposite to Bar Vittoria).
